Pricing & Fees

Rails uses a straightforward and transparent pricing model, detailed below. Market makers can qualify for fee rebates by contributing to platform liquidity, provided they meet specific trading volume thresholds. Read more.

Network Costs: Onchain transactions (deposits and withdrawals) may include network fees that users pay directly to the blockchain network. Rails does not receive these fees.

Execution Type: what are "maker" vs. "taker" orders?
  • Maker order: Your order adds liquidity to the order book. Maker orders “make” the market.

    • Example: you place a limit order that doesn’t fill right away.

    • These orders have a 0.02% fee applied.

  • Taker order: Your order removes liquidity from the order book. This happens when your order matches instantly against an existing order. Taker orders “take” from the market.

    • Example: a market order or a limit order priced to fill immediately.

    • These orders have a 0.05% fee applied.

Maker orders have lower fees because they add liquidity to the market, helping create deeper order books and tighter spreads. By rewarding makers, everyone benefits from better prices and smoother trading.

You can check if your order is a maker or taker order via the Execution Type field in the Recent Trades tab in the Trade Summary tab.

Dynamic Fee Tiers

Our trading fees adapt based on your rolling 30-day trading volume. The more you trade, the lower your fees. Your current tier is recalculated daily based on the last 30 days of trades, and your new fee rate takes effect immediately:

  • As your volume increases, you’ll automatically move into more favourable fee tiers so high-activity traders benefit from better pricing without any extra steps.

  • If your volume decreases, you’ll be automatically shifted to the corresponding lower tier.

You can check your current Fee Tier at any time in the Account Summary panel on the Trading page, using the tooltip next to "Fees". Fees per order and rate are viewable in the Portfolio Page's Trade History tab.
