We are required to collect and verify specific information for all individuals who want to trade on Rails to meet regulatory requirements. There are two main steps in the verification process:

Choose your username, password, and verify your email.

You'll be asked to answer a few questions to confirm your eligibility for the product, then must complete Know Your Customer (KYC) identity verification .

Step 1: Account Creation

  1. Go to the Rails website to create your account.

  2. Click Get Started.

  1. Select Individual as your Account Type, fill in the credentials and click Next.

  1. Check your email for a verification link.

  1. Click Verify your email address in the email you received.

  1. Once you click the verification link in your email, you should be taken to the Rails login page confirming that your email is verified. Click Sign In.

  1. Enter your login credentials and click Sign in.

Step 2: Account Verification

Questionnaire

We've partnered with SumSub, a trusted partner, to conduct user verification.

  1. Click Continue to begin the Questionnaire.

  1. Select the appropriate option based on your country of residence and click Continue.

To complete verification, you must accept Sumsub’s privacy terms, which ensure legal compliance and secure processing of your identity data.

  1. Answer all questions in the questionnaire accurately and click Continue at the end of each page.

Continue on phone allows you to proceed on your mobile device. You can switch between desktop and mobile anytime during the signup process.

Identity Verification

ID Document Scan

To upload or capture a photo of your valid government-issued ID, please follow these steps.

  1. Select the Issuing country and Document type of your ID and click Continue.

  1. After you have read the tips and guidelines, click Continue or Continue on phone.

Pro Tip: ID scans are most successfully done on your mobile device (i.e. via Continue on phone) if you are taking the photo and not uploading an existing photo.

  1. Allow camera access if prompted to do so, then click Continue.

  1. Line up your ID with your camera, ensuring all corners are visible and there is no glare.

  2. Click the circle button to take a photo.

  3. If you're not happy with the photo, click Replace image and try again or upload a photo. If you're happy with the photo, click Continue.

  1. Click the photo icon in the bottom left corner.

  2. Click the box containing the upload icon and select a photo from your device.

  3. Click Continue.

Liveness Check

A biometric liveness check confirms your identity by verifying the selfie matches your ID document.

  1. Read the tips and guidelines on how to complete the liveness check, then click Continue.

  1. Allow camera access if prompted to do so, then click Continue.

  1. Position your face within the frame, and follow the prompts to move your head.

If there are issues with your liveness test you will be prompted to Resubmit and retry. Pay careful attention to the warning reasons provided or read these troubleshooting tips for more help.

Residential Address Verification

Use geolocation by enabling location services on your device, or upload a document (e.g. utility bill), to verify that you don't reside in a prohibited country.

You must be at home, and VPNs and other location masking tools must be disabled for geolocation to be permitted. Learn more here.

  1. To verify your address via geolocation click Enable location. Jump to step 20 if you prefer to upload a document.

  1. Your approximate address will be automatically populated for you. Correct or enter any missing details then click Continue.

  1. If you are having issues or don't wish to enable location services, click Upload document to provide documentary proof of address.

  2. Click the box containing the icon and select your document, then click Continue.

Only supported documents issued in the last 3 months are accepted.

Some countries may be required to submit alternative or additional information like Tax IDs. If there are issues with your address document you will be prompted to Resubmit and retry. Pay careful attention to the warning reasons provided or read these troubleshooting tips for more help.

  1. You should now see one of the following screens. Read the below table to determine next steps.

Please wait while we verify your information. If processing exceeds a few minutes, your application is under review, and our team will contact you within 1 business day.

Your application has been approved. You can now log into Rails if you're not already redirected there.

If you see a failure screen, it means you do not qualify for a Rails account. Read here for possible reasons why.
