# Signup for Individuals

We are required to collect and verify specific information for all individuals who want to trade on Rails to meet regulatory requirements. There are two main steps in the verification process:

You'll be asked to answer a few questions to confirm your [eligibility](https://help.rails.xyz/user-verification#what-are-the-eligibility-requirements-to-use-rails-pro) for the product, then must complete [Know Your Customer (KYC) ](https://help.rails.xyz/signing-up/user-verification/know-your-customer-kyc)identity verification .

## Step 1: Account Creation 

1. Go to the [Rails website](https://trade.rails.xyz/trade/BTC-USD) to create your account.

4\. Check your email for a verification link.

6\. Once you click the verification link in your email, you should be taken to the Rails login page confirming that your email is verified. Click **Sign In.**

9\. Select the appropriate option based on your country of residence and click **Continue.**

10\. Scroll through the questionnaire and complete all questions accurately, including any attestations.  Click **Continue** where necessary.

### Identity Verification

#### ID Document Scan

To upload or capture a photo of your valid government-issued ID, please follow these steps.&#x20;

### Residential Address Verification

Use geolocation by enabling location services on your device, or upload a document (e.g. utility bill), to verify that you don't reside in a [prohibited country](https://help.rails.xyz/user-eligibility#list-of-prohibited-jurisdictions).

20. If you are having issues or don't wish to enable location services, click **Upload document** to provide documentary proof of address.&#x20;
